Le dernier se produit enfin, et voici les deux yokozuna se pr�parent. Je reste impressionn� par l’ossature d’Akebono, et je suis assez surpris que le fr�le japonais en face de lui ose m�me lui contester la victoire finale. Le combat d�marre, Akebono bouscule compl�tement le petit japonais, qui se trouve accul� au bord de l’�limination. Mais, tout d’un coup, Takanohana ne recule plus, bloque net Akebono et le projette derri�re lui avec une puissance incroyable, volant litt�ralement voler ses 220 kg !! Je suis estomaqu�, je ne comprends rien � la sc�ne et je regarde mes amis japonais, bien

visage. On m’explique alors que Takanohana est un yokozuna exceptionnel qui vient de remporter sa 16�me coupe de l’empereur.
Depuis cette date, je me suis souvent refait ce combat dans ma t�te sans jamais l’avoir revu r�ellement. Mais d�s lors, j’�tais devenu un vrai fan de sumo, et je me suis mis � m’int�resser � tous ces aspects, m�me si je suis retourn� en France peu apr�s ce tournoi. Quand je suis finalement revenu au Japon � la fin de l’ann�e
1998, je suis devenu compl�tement accro au sumo, en convertissant la plupart de mes amis. Je me suis mis � analyser

tous les rites et autres gestuelles, qui comportent tous une signification pr�cise. Takanohana est devenu mon h�ros et mon cœur battait tr�s fort quand il combattait. J’ai pass� tellement de bons moments avec le sumo au Japon, qu’� mon retour en France, j’ai voulu faire partager cette passion avec le plus grand nombre. � Le Monde du Sumo � est l’une des aventures dont je suis le plus fier, et j’adresse un grand merci au yokozuna Takanohana Koji, qui m’a ouvert les yeux sur un univers magnifique !!
