 es schon gerecht finden, dass ein Wettkämpfer alle seine Auslagen selbst zahlt und nicht einmal die Chance bekommt seine Kosten im Wettkampf Zurückzugewinnen?

MB – Zuletzt zurück zu deinem Posten als Präsident des holländischen Verbandes. Wie schätzt du die Chancen für euer Team bei den nächsten Amateur-Meisterschaften ein?

SG – Vielleicht schaffen wir eine Medaille bei den Leichtgewichten in der Juniorenklasse. Voriges Jahr haben wir vier Medaillen in der Seniorenklasse gewonnen. Also wäre alles was weniger wäre ein Rückschritt. Aber Sumo ist Sumo, also weiß man nie was passieren wird.

SG – Das hängt sicher davon ab wer zu diesem Vorhaben beiträgt. Es ist offensichtlich, dass man wenn man ein Haus verkaufen will es zuerst einmal in Ordnung bringen muss. Ich hoffe inständig, dass das Vorhaben Erfolg hat, weil es doch jedermanns Traum wäre.

MB – Wie viele wissen, gab es voriges Jahr bei einen Sumoturnier in New York ein wenig finanzielle Unterstützung für die beteiligten Amateure. Wäre es deiner Meinung nach
gut, wenn Geld im Amateursumo eine größere Rolle spielen würde?

SG –Auf jeden Fall. Es ist doch lächerlich zu erwarten, dass ein Wettkämpfer die besten Jahre seines Lebens dafür hergibt eine Goldmedaille zu gewinnen, wenn er sich am nächsten Tag nicht einmal einen Laib Brot leisten kann. Wenn die Wettkämpfer die Möglichkeit haben Geld zu verdienen sollte es ihnen erlaubt werden diese Chance zu ergreifen. Wer würde
