RR: Ja, Rakvere wird 2008 Gastgeber für die World Amasumo Championships sein! CT: Sie müssen sehr begeistert sein. RR: Ja, das war ein großer Triumph für Rakvere, eine kleine Stadt, die nur 18.000 Einwohner hat. Wir haben noch kein festes Datum bekommen, aber wir erwarten, dass es irgendwann im Oktober sein wird, und wir hoffen, dass Kaido und sein Oyakata Ehrengäste sein werden. Rakvere hat eine neue

Sportarena für 3.000 Zuschauer und wir bauen gerade ein Hotel und ein Kurbad. Natürlich ist das Hauptproblem immer, genug Sponsoren zu finden, da die Firmen diese Gelder immer ein Jahr im Voraus planen, wir müssen also bereits jetzt damit beginnen. Wir erhalten keine staatliche Unterstützung, aber das Estnische Olympische Komitee hatte die Dopingkontrollen während der Championships 2006 unterstützt und wird das hoffentlich auch 2008 wieder tun, obwohl da sehr viel mehr Teilnehmer sein werden. Wenn es da draußen jemanden gibt, der interessiert ist, uns zu unterstützen, so würden wir sehr gerne mit ihm oder ihr sprechen. CT: Wie sieht die Zukunft des Sumo in Estland aus? Wie sollte es sich Ihrer Meinung nach entwickeln? RR: Ich würde gerne sehen, dass sich alle Arten von Ringen, Sumo eingeschlossen, in Estland unter einem Dachverband zusammenschließen, so dass wir etwas mehr Zusammenhalt haben. Auch die weltweiten

Veranstaltungen sollten weiter vorangetrieben werden, um Unterstützer anzuziehen, so dass wir wachsen und uns weiterentwickeln können; die World Championships in Rakvere werden hoffentlich eine Menge Aufmerksamkeit erregen. CT: Zu guter Letzt, wenn man auf das Osaka Basho von unseren Sitzen in luftiger Höhe herunterblickt, wenn feuern Sie an (abgesehen von Baruto)? RR: Nun, ich mag Amas Kampfgeist und Kaio – ich schätze seine Gelassenheit sehr. CT: Auf dieses Schlusswort hin werden wir nun die letzten Kämpfe des Tages beobachten.
