Actually, if you are of a mind to watch sumo live during the bi-monthly tournaments, the Japan Sumo Association does provide streaming video at its website, sumo.goo.ne.jp/eng/ , but the links are shown and activated only during the actual basho. Starting at around 3PM Tokyo time, or, 1 AM in, say, Grand Rapids, you can enter mms://live.sumo.or.jp/sumolive/ into your media player for action beginning with upper makushita/juryo. Otherwise, go to the JSA website at approximately 2 AM Grand |
Rapids time for a direct link to the video stream. Alternatively, clips are uploaded to www.banzuke.com by a very time-generous and kind member of the sumo mailing list for viewing the following day, in most cases. From that site, you may find a link enabling you to secure a DVD of the bouts. I would also suggest visiting the sumo forum www.sumoforum. net or the sumo mailing list at www.webtrek.com/mailman/ |
listinfo/sumo for active discussions concerning all things sumo, including how to view the bouts during or after the tournaments. Enjoy the sumo! With very kind regards, Barbara Ann Klein Editor Home |
