Asashoryu’s tsukebito Kimenryu (Makushita 39) presents chikara-mizu to the yokozuna. The previous two rikishi on the East side, Tosanoumi and Kaiho, both lost their bouts, disqualifying them from giving the chikara-mizu. As this was the final bout, no later rikishi could present the water, leaving it to the yokozuna’s tsukebito. In previous years a tsukebito would have to offer the chikara-mizu while wearing his mawashi. This takes considerable time, so now the tsukebito simply bears their right shoulder and left leg to symbolize wearing a mawashi.
