Prior to their bout on day 10 at the recent Hatsu Basho, Kakuryu had not beaten Hakuho at a
Hon-basho. He had however come very close to winning in Kyushu last year, showing clear
signs of having decided on a good game plan and only marginally failing in the execution.
This time he made no mistake and cooked up a perfect storm, leaving the Yokozuna
bamboozled, bemused and befuddled.
