Meet the Staff – Alden Alayvilla Alden Alayvilla (aka Araibira in youtube sumo circles) has been a sumo enthusiast since 1994. Since the 2011 Natsu basho, he has recorded, uploaded and analyzed over 5,000 professional sumo bouts. He is an avid practitioner of grappling sports, ranging from Greco-Roman wrestling to Brazilian jujitsu and of course sumo. He lives in Kaua’i Hawai’i, where he enjoys fishing, writing and cruising with friends. Currently, he is a student reporter and staff writer at Kaua’i Community College.
